Updates. 😒

Current screenshot from my Windows 7 VM that I use for school labs.

Before this little rant to make myself feel better starts, I don’t want you to get me wrong: Windows updates are important and shouldn’t be disabled or ignored (unless it’s the problem-prone upgrade to Windows 10 version 1809 but that’s a rant for another time).

Good FSM, though, they are annoying sometimes. I’m sitting in class right now needing to get some lab work done but have to wait on the new Windows 7 VM that I installed to do its updates.

Being a VM, I originally thought about just leaving it offline and not worrying about updates but some of my class labs require Internet access so I guess I’ll install updates. If I were smart, though, I’d have left my laptop on last night updating and been ready to go this morning.

Obviously, I’m not all that smart. 😅

I could also go and find a Windows 7 class machine and do my labs there but I’m so tired of having to find one, get it working, create a new user, then fight with problems that other students have left behind because nobody seems to care. I just have to get through this update phase then this will make class work so much easier….
