Fell Off the Wagon Over the Weekend

In more ways than one.

Like a lot of mistakes, it started with beer. I’m not an alcoholic by any means as I don’t drink much at all, but I’d planned on not drinking any alcohol until I got down to my goal weight (more on that in a minute). There I was at the grocery store Saturday night and I was really craving beer, so I caved and bought a 12-pack of Coors Light. Not the best beer at all, but relatively cheap and it was my dad’s beer of choice so it has some sentimentality to it.

Saturday and Sunday saw me going through a couple of beers – literally 2 ½ so not getting “drunk” by any stretch of the imagination – but last night (Sunday) I got a bad craving for potato chips.

This is where the diet comes in. Since January 1st I’ve been on a low-carb/high-fat diet, not quite as strict as “Keto” but basically the same thing, and I’ve lost over 10 pounds. Beer is high in carbs, though the “light” beers aren’t too bad which is why I let myself cave-in to the beer craving. Potato chips, on the other hand, are pretty much pure carbs.

So, long story short, I had some Spicy Nacho Doritos, some Sour Cream & Onion Ruffles, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. I probably had 3 times my carb allotment for the day. Ouch.

You know what, though? That’s okay. I just had some bacon and eggs with some sugar-free lemonade and my vitamin supplements. I’m climbing back on the wagon today.

It’s not a big deal to fall off from time to time, as long as you get up and get back on instead of giving up and feeling sorry for yourself.

Have a great day, and remember:

You got this!

  1. Alcohol, especially beer, totally makes me crave salty snacks like chips and popcorn too! I usually buy veggie chips and dried salted veggie snacks to munch on to scratch that itch.
They taste amazing, but nothing beats Ruffles and Doritos lol 😛
    Keep up the good work!
